Google Store Error [ OR_PTHA_02 ]

I thought it would be worth sharing my experience with an error on the Google Store as I was unable to find any documentation online for such an error.

Having been offered a promotional deal on a Nest Hub, I followed the directions to place the order and received the following error:

An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later. [OR_PTHA_02]

Screenshot of error on Google Store website. Error message is at the bottom of the checkout page and states An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later. [OR_PTHA_02]

The solution was simple enough, but might not be immediately obvious. Especially considering the price is $0

Simply choosing the “Add payment method” and selecting a payment method you have stored is enough to get the checkout to complete.

Keyshorts

2022 — more like 2021, but thanks to manufacturing and shipping delays — was the year I upgraded my main machine. What’s more it was my first Apple computing device ever. Though I did have a hand me down Apple 128K to play around with as a child.

I ran my Surface Pro 3 into the ground in around 7 years time. A crack in the chassis. A small handful of dents. Friction and skin oils made two TypeCovers worn and shiny.

I knew that this time was going to be different in terms of caring for my main machine’s appearance. Got the plastic shell. Got palm-rest, and touchpad vinyl protectors. And I knew I had to find a solution to prevent wear on the keys.

That’s where Keyshorts came in. [ https://keyshorts.com/ ]

They took a bit of time to arrive. But they’re coming all the way from Poland, so I get it.

I opted for the transparent key stickers because I didn’t want to lost backlight functionality. Also, I didn’t think I could commit to one color scheme or design. Note: The key backlight functionality does function somewhat if you get a color or design. I think I’d read elsewhere that it reduces the strength of the light by approximately 50% with the sticker on the keys.

Patience is key when applying them! Take your time and do it over several days if you need to refocus and regain a steady hand when applying. I used a set of plastic medical tweezers from a first aid kit rather than the paper applicator tool they provide. I’d experienced a situation where some of the paper had torn off and got stuck to a sticker.

Remember to take your time and don’t end up with a wonky application you don’t realize you did until two days after! 😂

Ooph. It pains me how I missed this one.

Also, it will take about 3-7 days for the stickers to really settle on the keys and for them to stop looking cloudy or bubbled.

Keyshorts, I think you should include a couple extra stickers on the sheet for us folks who mess up 1 or 5 keys! 🙃

Video: Why work doesn't happen at work

I’m sure 2010 was not the first time work not being done in an office, in the traditional sense, was being discussed. But when I found this during COVID times when WFH discussions really began to heat up, the points brought up all the way back then are still relevant and valid.

Question: “Where do you really want to go when you really need to get something done?”

Answer: “You typically get three kinds of answers: One is a place, a location, or a room. Another one is a moving object. And a third is a time.”

Link list posts are meant to be a dumping ground of the day’s — but realistically I may hold a post in draft and build it up through the week sometimes, and knowing myself, maybe even a month — favorite videos, articles, finds that I got their hooks into me.

Testing out Obsidian to make a second brain

For years I’ve used bookmarks, notes, emailing myself, Pinboard, and plain ol’ brain power to keep track of the things I find interesting or of note for being a more knowledgeable adult or for work. But it all can become difficult to keep track of everything with these disparate tools. Especially in a way to keep things that are related strung together.

And so, after sitting on considering Obsidian — after looking at Notion, sticking to a free tool but using it more strategically with Google Keep — I’ve jumped into the wild of taking notes and learning the ins and outs of making it work with the whole “linking your thinking” tool bits.

I was skeptical that it’d work. And I haven’t been into mashups since… Girl Talk, probably? But this worked surprisingly well. Also it’s always a pleasure to see the 2,000 marble machine in action, and knowing creative people like Wintergatan are out there doing different things in the music scene.

Sailor Moon’s first three seasons are coming to YouTube for free . https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/22/21230858/sailor-moon-tv-shows-free-youtube-season-1-2-3-japanese-movie-release

I won’t front. Sailor Moon (and Dragonball Z) like for a lot of people in the NYC area, and I guess the rest of the US was probably my earliest exposure to anime. I didn’t watch regularly, but I got the gist of the show, and who some of the major characters were. Having the option to watch this free just for fun is pretty dope.
